“OVER THE BONNET PODCAST” – Interviewing international Feng Shui Master Roseline Deleu, Australian journalist Mark Piepers shares with you her secrets and how Feng Shui evolved from a simple approach to encompassing her adventure discovering Aboriginal Culture, connexion with Country and Languages and some amazing concepts unknown by many non-Aboriginal people.
Sorry if the video where you see of Roseline is a little bit out of sync. Simply listen and admire the gorgeous painting behind her “Caterpillar Dreaming” by Maria Curley, Kaltjiti Arts APY Lands.
I had the honour to be invited to see the closing ceremony of the Argyle mine in the East Kimberley where Rio Tinto extracted diamonds for many decades.
Creating ceremony for small or important events in our lives or – in this case – Respecting Country and bring peace again after long time mining, local Land Custodians used smoke and water to clear space and people.
When did you smoke your place and aura last?
The best time is during full moon, but please don’t wait… When you are feeling stuck and feel ready to let go and move forward: smoke/smudge your place and body (in all safety) verbalising your intents aloud. Favour local herbs/tree sticks from your area for a more powerful result.
After a couple of years of Yin time… deep inside me I found the essential benefits of reflecting.
I recall what one of my old Masters said to me many decades ago: “It is when you are in the deepest Yin, when you think that nothing is happening… That’s when BIG things prepare!” That is SO true!
Indeed, we are living in the area of technology, when everything we want comes at a click (very Yang). Then Covid19 hits (or what the governments decided to do with us). I was isolating like many of us in Australia. People were loosing their jobs, hardly any opportunity was available for months. I thought of all the stress that people endured when isolating and loosing income, being stuck at home, seeing no-one, so what to do? I started offering weekly Zoom sessions on Feng Shui and many people joined, friendship formed, hope and motivation emerged π
I then thought, “What if the worst happens? How can I/we prepare?” I looked at my backyard and for weeks, started to dig and revamp. A vegetable garden was the way! Winter did not stop us, we fed the soil, made a compost, planted seeds – everything grew… I never ate so much dark green kale in my life π The results were worth every minute of our time – eating our own season (organic) vegetables -> our bodies became stronger, talking to the Land -> our minds and spirits connected and we had so much fun!
Seeing GROWTH was inspiring and healing. Today, more than a year later, again, our season vegetables are growing, many parts of Australia are in lock-down due to a Covid19 rapid increase of cases. Time for me to separate those little ones again and look forward to eating some yummy warm soups.
New Zoom sessions on Feng Shui and Emotional Sanity are coming up soon again in English. Register your interest by emailing me at fengshuisteps {at} hotmail.com and I will send you info and invite link.
May calmness and reflection bring you Peace. Take care,
When was the last time you did something new? or… Did something that you haven’t done for decades? During this current COVID19 lockdown, I decided to crochet a beanie! I had not done this since primary school and then, it was not the best result at the time either. Send me a photo of whatβ¦

After being away for a few months from the place I usually live, I sat in our local shopping center and watched people walked past.
Interestingly, I realised that the population had changed: much more Asians are now running the shops, many more African immigrants were now part of the current population. I wondered to what extent this newer changes impacted on consumerism! (By the way, these are happening all around the world.)
Where would they stop and purchase what they liked? Is this why there are so many shops changing since last year or is it simply because of the exhorbitant rent and change of habits of people buying online?
Buying online is fine for a few items. Luckily, for many people it will never replace the human contact and the fun people have going shopping and browsing.
When you go shopping next, sit down and think how much people are buy stuff they don’t really need and how much that impact on the garbage and on cluttering of their homes.
When you wish to buy something next… take it in your hands, look at it, then ask yourself “Do I REALLY need this?”.
When you buy online, think twice before tapping that ‘add to cart’ button.
Walking in nature allows and helps your mind wander and connect on a deeper level without daily stress of modern life.
Where we were born influences our lives: location and its surrounding nature – these our roots, our strengths.
Native animals, Family, school, friends, work environment are among many more factors that will shape us – our shape are the equivalent of the tree branches and how these grow.
The tree is well balanced, it can show its equivalent of branches in the quantity of its roots system.
How about you?
Look at the photo of this tree and meditate on the way it is growing. Can you find the positive points in this illustration?
Nature is our greatest teacher, we are part of it.
You may feel limited by your belief of lack options in life and noticed that you may well have lost some confidence since you have been facing that wall!?

Add a beautiful photo/poster of nature where you can see an opening of the landscape! Yes, surrounding yourself by nature is essential!
Do you miss the days when the ceilings were nicely decorated? I’d love to put this back into fashion π
In Feng Shui, attics as well as ceilings symbolise what we think (in our head). Too much junk in attics or old objects reminding you of bad memories could be stored there too – all those negativity stagnates above your heads. Likewise, cracked ceilings or traces of water damaged (repaired or not) are not the best omens to live a sane and positive life.
Looking at Asian temples and monuments, ceilings are often decorated with golden leaves. Imagine living with gold above our heads – how rich we would feel!
Nice lighting in our modern interiors can do the job though.
Ceiling apparent beams are lines that ‘cut’ the Chi above our heads, Asians decorate their beams to dissipate their negative effects.
As illustrated (right) with this modern room, today’s decorators are keen to make rooms cosy and use tasteful draping even if there is no beam.
Today, look up, check your ceilings, clean up your lights, change the broken bulbs and think of washing or repainting your ceilings if necessary.
Dear Roseline, We have been here in our new home 2 and a bit years and my family and I have all felt displaced and unsettled. Something is not quite right! Your advice would be appreciated. – Jordan, Australia
Dear Jordan,
There are many reasons why someone would feel unsettled. I will list only a few with dot points – this list is far from being exhaustive!
Could be that…
Was this new house built on a aboriginal burial site?
Do you still long to your old home?
Did you say goodbye to your old house (equally important if you rented or owned it) ?
Did you take with you in this new home newly bought antiques or mirrors that had been used by another person?
Did you bring in with you in this new place objects of recently deceased people?
Is your house located near one of those really high electric poles? or high electric fields?
Is your new place ‘closed in’ and were you used before to have a large garden or lived on a big property?
What is across of your main entry door?
More details from you would be welcomed so I could give you further suggestions. Cheers!
I am happy to help all my readers help themselves with Feng Shui tips.
Even though this blog doesn’t replace a Feng Shui consultation with me, I do welcome simple questions via email to which I will answer by placing an article on this blog so that all followers can learn.
