Beam above Bed

Protruding beams above beds are certainly a Feng Shui challenge. As Chi flows, the apparent beam sends a ‘heavier’ energy along and below where the beam is running.

Beam above bed

As illustrated here, the beam would cross roughly around the breast area.

How can you counteract this?

Design a lovely and tasteful canopy so it gives you another ‘ceiling’ above your head.

In addition, having a flat / leveled / arched ceiling above your head will be much more comfortable to sleep and would give you a better health.

We probably won’t be able to copy what was done on this high ceiling in a temple, nevertheless, it could give you some ideas !

Here a photo of a reader with a view of the ceiling about her massage table – thank you Josée!

Valentines Thoughts

For many, Valentine’s day is not always ‘rose‘. Lots are still waiting to meet their soul mate and won’t probably get no message, no card, no flower today 😦

Cendrillon et son Prince.jpgTalking with a dear friend of mine yesterday, we reflected how much Walt Disney movies of our childhood had influenced us. For us girls, we loved the Prince charming stories… and many are still waiting to meet ours 😉
What struck us probably the most is the end sentence “… and they lived happily ever after.” – this thought was set in our hopes and dreams and probably is still be stuck somehow there today.  😀

I read her those few words on which I reflected recently:

“…the difference between marriage and ceremony – real marriage isn’t 2 people dashing across a bridge in rice and ribbons… it’s discovering after a lifetime that they have built the bridge together with their own hands.” – extract of Richard Bach’s book « Running from Safety – An adventure of the Spirit »

My favourite ‘recent’ Walt Disney is Wall-E – yep, I even cry when I watch Pocahontas!

So, today, if LOVE & ROMANCE are not in your life, re-decorate your bedroom and add pink colour for Love and red colour for Passion.

Ceiling – Looking at the Stars?

I recall when my son was little, I decorated its bedroom ceiling with some glow-in-the-dark stars. We all loved the idea! They were blue-tagged and sadly the blue-tag of that time made a mess when many years later I decided to remove them when moving out.

Today, it seems trendy to have that night sky feeling inside buildings. As you can see in those photos, the ceilings are painted in night sky blue or black and are decorated with many little lights. The effect is stunning as long as your ceiling is very high – this point is essential!!!

The Aston - Classic Constructions

Some trendy restaurants also decided to bring on dark ceilings – maybe we can’t see our food as well – but this gives a nice and cosy atmosphere in the place.

Black ceiling

From a Feng Shui perspective, having the sky above your heads creates the feeling of infinity, it opens up your mind and possibilities. Avoid having this decor on normal height ceilings please as this would deter the point and you would make the room feeling much smaller.

Forgotten Ceilings

Do you miss the days when the ceilings were nicely decorated? I’d love to put this back into fashion 🙂

In Feng Shui, attics as well as ceilings symbolise what we think (in our head). Too much junk in attics or old objects reminding you of bad memories could be stored there too – all those negativity stagnates above your heads. Likewise, cracked ceilings or traces of water damaged (repaired or not) are not the best omens to live a sane and positive life.

gold ceiling

Looking at Asian temples and monuments, ceilings are often decorated with golden leaves. Imagine living with gold above our heads – how rich we would feel!

Nice lighting in our modern interiors can do the job though.

Ceiling apparent beams are lines that ‘cut’ the Chi above our heads, Asians decorate their beams to dissipate their negative effects.

idee plafond feng shuiAs illustrated (right) with this modern room, today’s decorators are keen to make rooms cosy and use tasteful draping even if there is no beam.

Today, look up, check your ceilings, clean up your lights, change the broken bulbs and think of washing or repainting your ceilings if necessary.

Feng Shui & Mirrors

art, clutter, cure, dried flowers, dust, easy, feng shui, feng shui steps, fresh flowers, mirrors, roseline deleu, stair cases

Mirrors are too often consider as the Feng Shui ‘aspirin’. When something doesn’t see to go as we want… we place a mirror! Aouch! Aouch ! Aouch 😦 this could be far from ideal!!!

DSC_1079

Here a FEW suggestions (many more suggestions exist of course, these ones will get you started)

GOOD placement:

  1. YES: in a dark spot where light (in the mirror) can be reflected and thus will lighten the room
  2. YES: on the wall where your grid has a missing area
  3. YES: when it reflects something nice for ex. a fresh bunch of flowers

WRONG placement:

  1. NO: not in your main entry reflecting your door (Chi comes in and goes out immediately)
  2. NO: not reflecting stair cases (as illustrated in the photo above) – this would encourage too many UPs and DOWNs in life!
  3. NO: absolute NO when mirror reflects clutter and/or broken items

AVOID mirrors in bedrooms – so, if you can’t sleep, cover them at night and feel the difference for yourself.

Test your Feng Shui Bed Placement

Dear Roseline, Since moving the bed what I thought was a better fengshui position, less good came… I believed fengshui bed position would do so much good? Oh dear 😦 – A.N.

Dear Reader,

BedroomI very seldom suggest clients or readers about bed directions calculations, simply because people are then stuck onto one belief rather than doing their own experiences and be empowered to find out by themselves.

In your case, you probably calculated your direction based on another school of Feng Shui, following another master. Everything happens for a reason, this time, it was for you to get empowered and turn your bed around again.

I always suggest to everyone to test their directions for one week at the time (maximum), the results are shown usually within a couple of days. You monitor and write down what has happened during that week and when you had the best week, this is your best direction.

Yes, indeed, either you move your bed around your room or you simply move the orientation your bed without moving the furniture – which can be fun sometimes 🙂

Keep moving till you monitor your best direction and things will settle.

Best regards,

Relationship challenged

child bedroom, child clinging, control, Deleu, difficult child, feng shui, frames, love, relationship, rivalry, Roseline, stubborn, tips

Dear Roseline,

Sorry to say but the relationship with my husband is rather challenging. He is impatient with our 3 y.o. son who is very stubborn (like his dad and myself) so as a matter of fact our couple is suffering. I can’t seem to speak kindly, feeling too tense; on top of that, my husband wants to control me (and everything) non-stop and does nothing.
Would you have some Feng Shui tips for us all? For the moment the rivalry between our son and his dad has the child clinging to me constantly.
Thank you so much – A.X.

frame-quarrels-or-divorce

It is essential to have all frames at the same level – BUT here above, the example translates into two couples divorcing: a woman looks away, the man on the right too, while the couple in the middle are looking at each other – the middle couple are the two lovers who are together now!

Dear A.X.,

A few suggestions as I don’t have many of your personal details:

  1. I hope that your 3 y.o. sleeps in his bedroom and not in your marital bed
  2. Place a photo of the 3 of you on his bedside table at your child’s eyes height
  3. Display a recent happy and smiling photo of your couple somewhere in your apartment and/or in your master bedroom (photo without the element of water – so no lake, no ocean, no river etc)
  4. Are all your frames hanging at the same height?  Indeed, in your case it is essential – because having one on top of the other or one higher that the other would translate into having one of you in the couple being ‘above’ the other… so in other words: ‘controlling’
  5. Do you have equal access to both (each) side of your marital bed? If bed is stuck in a corner and only one is accessible then only one person in the couple has a say the other one not.

Sleepless Nights

auspicious bed direction, bed, bedroom, Deleu, direction, experiences, feng shui, Roseline, sleep, sleeping in bed

Dear Roseline , I cannot believe how changing the direction of lying on a bed totally changes how you feel. Its bizarre and totally unfair the misery of sleeplessness to have endured because of the direction. How do people cope with this?
My life has been absolute *#)@(* emotions, feelings, thoughts all in disarray and it changes when I lay in a different direction on the bed. – N.R. USA

Dear subscriber,

Indeed, we are part of a big universe and it affects us in a positive and less positive way sometimes.

I trust that you found your best direction and that you are sleeping better now.

Having felt all these emotions when you change direction means that you are very well connected with the oneness.

I have slept in all directions and still do this wherever I go. You will find me sleeping across or totally opposite in a bed as I do not want to be stuck to rely on a compass. Each hemisphere is different, each country, each place too. Hence why, feeling is essential rather than relying on one direction only.

roseline sticksWishing you better nights.

Have a fantastic year 2017 and enjoy your Feng Shui experiences!

A bit of humour with Feng Shui makes it easier to get!  😀

dsc_8214

This example shows a bedroom layout in which you’d really be challenged to meet the right man. Yes, this room would belong to a spinster or a single woman with problems – or eventually a master bedroom of a couple where the poor husband would not have much to say in the relationship. Let’s have a look at the hints here:

  1. The bed is centered in the middle of the wall, which is usually ‘good feng shui’ – yes, but… it doesn’t seemed balanced as on one side you have a window partially covered by the pillows and on the other side two frames – none of this layout would bring equilibrium into a couple.
  2. Bed side tables and lamps are similar on both sides, which is usually ‘good feng shui’ – yes but… one of the light bulb is broken – so, no light, no energy is attracted on that side of the bed!
  3. Pink is beautiful and symbolises Love – yes, but… when the decor of your room is excessively feminine or too girly, it is recommended to add a touch of ‘male’ or ‘adult’ decor/colours/touch in there.
  4. The window cools down that side of the bed(head), while we really would like to manifest a warm and loving relationship!

Thus, we changed the bed and placed it on the other wall, where there is no window. We put a new light bulb in the lamp and changed the photos of the two little frames. One of the bedside tables (male side) is now empty and you are symbolically now ready to welcome a man into your life – not specifically straight away in your bed… one step at the time!  😉

Would you have one of those ‘Stay-out-Man-Bedroom’ and you are keen to meeting someone nice?… Send me a photo by email and I’ll answer with some suggestions in one of the upcoming blog posts.
