peacock feathersIn Feng Shui, there are many different ways to symbolise Wind (Feng) and movement.
One of them in Chinese Feng Shui is to display peacock feathers. They are colourful, light and feathers usually help birds fly – even though in this case the male shows off 😉

Keep in mind that in some countries and culture peacock feathers are considered ‘bad luck’ as they look like the evil eye!

Always respect people’s own culture and beliefs when you choose or suggest a Feng Shui adjustment!

Feng Shui suggestion to skip apparent beamsProblem sleeping under apparent beams or sloped ceilings?

Either one or the other is affecting your sleep and the energy in your bedroom above your head is going like a squash ball… hence why you can’t really rest fully!

A couple of suggestions are illustrated here: suggestions to avoid apparent beams

1. A four post bed has another ceiling hiding the beams and/or hiding slope ceiling

2. Create a peaceful cocoon feeling without a 4 post bed simply using a couple of bamboo sticks hanging from above, they hold the newly created ceiling and curtains. You spend a third of your life in bed… your bedroom is your love sanctuary and where you re-charge your energies too!

Wishing you a good Feng Shui sleep!

Roseline Deleu & CJ Fisher China Camp

Roseline & Colin

During my last Feng Shui visit to FNQ last week, I felt the call to go inland and pay a visit to my dear friend Kuku Yalanji Elder Colin Fisher in China Camp (Buru).

My new little tent, self inflated mattress and pillow were safely stuck in the bottom of my backpack, I added enough food for the duration of my stay. I was wondering how I was going to handle carrying 17 kilos in my with my frozen shoulder and walk the Creb track. I caught the Country Road Coachlines in Mossman and got kindly dropped off on the track turnoff just after Wujal Wujal.  I felt lucky when I heard that morning that someone was going to China Camp and could pick me up on the way. I started walking and connecting with the Ancestors – “Yalada” – I thanked them to welcome me again. I praised and honoured their beautiful country. Even thought the wet season had started, deep inside my heart and Soul, I knew Spirit was going to look after me. The white Toyota picked me on the way and I arrived in no time. What a blessing, thank you!

Each time I visit that place, I learn so much about the Land, about Culture, about our differences, about compassion, about myself too. It is a journey.

Sunday morning, with a couple of friends, Colin and I headed for our walk north of the Roaring Meg falls. We greeted a couple of visitors on the car park and headed off further. We walked and stopped in a few places and swam safely in the river where permitted. We were relaxed, we were connected, we were One with the place and with the whole Universe.

(example of a damselfly)

While dipping in a calm water spots, a turquoise blue and black damsel fly gently landed on Colin’s forearm. It turned and looked at him in the eyes. It stayed there. After a minute, Colin looked at me and said “This never happened to me before” – he was in awe. The fly flew off and landed again a few seconds later, at the same spot. It is only when I approached him that it flew away. That was an omen. Which omen?

I went to my special place, my favourite rock in the area and sat down. I connected with it and suddenly I felt a shake under my bum – you know like when you have your mobile phone on buzzer in your pocket. I jumped and took my camera out of my front pocket and I laughed thinking, I don’t even have my phone with me and my camera wouldn’t buzz! “My” rock was connecting, I love this! Was this another omen?

CJ FisherOn our way back to the car park, three men greeted us with the sad news that a lady had slipped from the Meg Falls a few hours before. Could we be of any help? The police officer arrived and we offered him assistance in the search. It was a sacred site after all; we all had to be careful and respectful. I asked him what colour the lady was wearing… “Turquoise blue top and denim shorts” said the officer. I said to Colin – “Exactly the colours of the damsel fly that landed a few hours ago on your forearm.”  We were speechless. Damsel in distress…

This is a very sad loss indeed. The body of the lady was found a couple of days later by the professional divers at the bottom of the fall. The signs and warnings on site mention to be careful and stay safe. The Roaring Meg now counts over a dozen of deaths, mainly men who are trespassing and disrespect the Sacredness of this Women’s site.

I share this very personal story with you to emphasize the importance of Respect. Sacred Feng Shui is about connecting with the Land, the Elements and the Ancestors.

Australia carries aboriginal energy, many of us are ‘white’ or new Australians. To integrate fully in this country, let’s embrace the aboriginal culture and knowledge of the Traditional Owners. Respect is essential. Understand our differences and adapt accordingly. We are the new comers, sometimes we are still the intruders – many don’t realise this.

aboriginal flagA few years ago, I passed my exam and became an Australian citizen. I failed the question about cricket; questions were only related to the history of the country since white men came. I was very sad to see hardly any question on aboriginal history and culture.

That has to change. It is high time that schools teach essential steps to honour people who lived here for thousands of years. We, the new ones, have to adapt and understand how Traditional Owners live the Dreaming.

Your life is worth investing in a guided tour when you visit Sacred places.

Feng Shui of your Mind & metaphysical Views on Alcohol

alcohol, alcohol consciousness, automatisms, entity, feng shui, lacking self confidence, suggetion to get rid of alcohol intake, unseen entity

“Out of sight, out of mind” – this could well be the first easy Feng Shui step to understand how to deal with this art of placement. It is then easy to take a simple action when it comes to bottles for those of you with too high alcohol intake.

alcoholWhat you scan, you create. Your interior and your decor have a huge impact on your life. Your brain constantly records the messages hidden in your interior. Hidden behind the doors of your cupboard, alcohol and wine bottles won’t trigger that subliminal desire to get an alcoholic drink.

When I met Virginia and Geoff at her birthday party, their new home was tastefully decorated. Their life was very tense though, money was scarce as they had moved away from a big city and big income. Here, the weather was warmer and it felt like a holiday. The problem is that Geoff couldn’t make the same living. He started and was struggling with his own company and, as he already was for the past 20 years of their marriage, he was this time again often involved with alcohol.

When Geoff was drinking, he was silly and he wasn’t the same person. The father figure that he was showing to their children didn’t fit into the ideal family that they had both promised themselves the day they exchanged their marital vows.

Virginia couldn’t stand this anymore and called me to see how I could help. She knew that I am traveling heaps and that my guidance and coaching are available on the phone. Geoff knew me and was comfortable to talk. He was ready to make a step. He had lost his driving license due to drink driving. Times were even tougher now. They both wanted to keep their family together and prepare a happier life ahead.

Geoff’s conversation is similar to most of us. When he explained his situation, he often used the verb ‘to try’. As Master Yoda said in one of the first Star War movies: “TO TRY doesn’t exist; you DO or you DO NOT”.  Each time you use the verb ‘TRY’ you are actually fooling yourself, you are subtly giving you an excuse that you are not doing something that you would really like to do.

“I am trying to give up smoking… I am trying to go to the gym… I am trying to lose weight… I am trying to give up alcohol… “ – and the list goes on. Please become aware that you smoke or you don’t; you get fitter, you get lighter, you get sober or you don’t. The first step with the Feng Shui of your Mind now is to erase this verb ‘to try’ from your vocabulary and start doing what you truly wish. It’s working very powerfully!

Geoff agreed that he needed to rebuild his self confidence and had already started avoiding alcohol most days. The most difficult was his social drinking, when he was with his mates. We came up with a strategy that he chose to put in place. Each time he was with his mates and he felt like taking a beer or a whiskey, he was instead going to the bathroom, washing his face and get back to the room ready to take a lemon lime and bitters instead. It worked.

Alcoholic drinks were now stored inside the pantry. What did we do from a Feng Shui of the Mind point of view? We allowed Geoff to change the flow in his behaviour, his pattern. When becoming aware of the alcohol craving while with his mates, he had to do something unusual that got him out of the way stepping towards the alcohol drink. Geoff decided he was implementing a distraction: going to the bathroom. By going there, it was giving him time to think and get out of the space, change his mind and put water onto his face was refreshing.

I explained to Geoff how I view this alcohol craving. I use a metaphor – imagine alcohol being an entity hanging onto you, craving for its favourite food: alcohol (this can apply for any craving, sugar, cigarettes, food etc.). The more you give this entity what it craves and requests the bigger it gets. You tend to become your craving, your disease, your problem.

You – and only You – choose what direction your life takes.
Each of us is living his own story.
We can’t change anyone or anything; we can only change our perception.

The less Geoff drank alcohol, the smaller his entity shrunk to finally disappear.  He symbolically cut the cord that was linking him with this entity. It is not part of him anymore. He is on a better track now and the family is healing. Today, he sticks new labels on each of his soft drink bottles “Joy” – “Laughter” – “Happiness” – “Compassion”… a small step to keep everyone happy.

May this beautiful story inspire you!

Living on a sloping block is a Feng Shui challenge as the ‘mountain’ = your support & strength is too low or missing.

I came across a good idea to counterbalance a slight slope as illustrated below. Here you can see that they raised the garden and therefore allow the Chi to move upwards healthily with lush green plants. Food for thoughts.
