chambre-fille-trop-gatee

This example of pink bedroom for a girl has been taken in a furniture shop. It inspired me to write you this little post with a few warnings as the little girl who would live there could well be too independent too soon!

  1. Firstly, avoid double beds until late teenager years! A child would feel lost in a large bed like this and could feel the need to become too independent too young feeling heavy responsibilities in life – leading then to potential lost of self-confidence.
  2. A single bed would ideally be placed in a corner, so the child will have the support from both walls.
  3. The frames illustrated in this photo show a single girl playing on her own. Does your child feel lonely? Not very social? Instead decorate with photos of smiling and happy children.
  4. The corner of the draws is a poison arrow that is sending uncomfortable Sha Chi energy to the sleeper (who actually will always sleep poorly in those conditions).
  5. Decor on top of the draws are much too adult and too heavy for a girl’s bedroom and would only collect dust.

Top Feng Shui tip – when decorating your child’s bedroom, bend your knees and look from your child’s eyes height to feel how the decor could affect your little one.

Enjoy your Feng Shui experiences! 🙂

At the Touch of your Fingers

DSC_8514Have you ever thought of the impact to yourself and more importantly to young children while using  mobile phones, tablets, touch screens and electronic games ?

Constantly touching ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) with  fingers – even though there is an insulator such as glass – each screen is coated with that transparent indium tin oxide (InSnO) conductor. Studies today probably cannot yet reveal how much it will affect our emotional, mental and physical health in the next couple of decades.

How about, now that you are aware of this potentially harming challenge, you limit the use of touch screen with fingers?

Instead of allowing technology to be the easy way out to keep kids quiet, choose instead natural wooden toys, sand, cooking and storytelling with parents and grandparents!

Thank you for your attention – by reassessing  the use of electronic devices, you may well be changing many lives today!

Television Power?

better communication with teenagers, children and television, feng shui, feng shui and television, master bedroom, problem sleeping, roseline deleu, television and teenagers, television in children's bedroom

“I didn’t sleep well last night, Roseline” – admits one of my friend as we walked together around the lake this morning.

“We watched an old movie with Samurais, where they all had to die at the end. We were in our bed and it kept me awake all night. I tossed and turned and couldn’t find peace, my husband was restless too.” – she added.

A television in a bedroom is part of the ‘No-No Feng Shui list’ – not only it is a no-no in the master bedroom where television distracts you from caring for yourself and your partner and it is also best to avoid in the children’s bedrooms as this also reduces family connections.

What is essential after watching a movie is to detach. This is possible when we move from the lounge to the bathroom, take a good shower and get change into our pyjamas before hopping in bed.

When watching a program from our bed, there is hardly any way to detach as the tension given by the movie stays in the room, hovering around the television set and disturbing our sleep.

Peace of SoundMany families have more than one television set at home. Often televisions are ‘on’ while the family communications are nonexistent or too often ‘off’.

Some closer families prefer to only watch their favourite films all together in their theatre dedicated to special moments during which they enjoy their big screen.

How much have your television invaded your lives?

Food for thought.

From Paradise to Concrete Compound

better housing for less violance, feng shui, Papua New Guinea housing, PNG, PNG compound, Port Moresby, roseline deleu, stress and violence in PNG

As Europe and the rest of the world is facing huge waves of refugees, Papua New Guineans could well feel like aliens in their own country.
Papua New Guinea (PNG) counts 600 islands, 7 million people and over 800 languages. Only 18 % live in urban centres while most of the population lives in customary communities.

PNG digicel sign

Mobile Phone advertising – Welcome sign as you land in Port Moresby (PNG)

Pursuing my researches on Feng Shui and environmental health, I visited many different areas of PNG in 2015. It is an amazing country with a variety of landscapes. From volcanoes to swamps, mountains to islands – each has its own beauty. Tourism is very slow due to the high level of danger and Port Moresby is rated as one of the 10 most dangerous capital cities in the world.

In PNG, there is no dole (no sit-down money), little welfare and scarce employment. In cities, the minimum wage is the equivalent of +/- 1 Australian Dollar per hour, that is for the lucky ones who have a job. People live from the land in their villages and also in Port Moresby where you can see vegetables growing wherever people can grow them: on the side of the streets, in some hills or in their little gardens. Then, they sit on a little outdoor space and sell their harvest to the pedestrians.

PNG selling their harvest

Every little sale counts

PNG has encountered the modern world like other developing countries, jumping from the Metal Age (they all have machetes there) straight into the Age of Technology. What a shock! In some villages today, I have seen many tribal men proudly walking with their mobile phone in their hand!

PNG walking in the village

Village Life

PNG walking in the compound.jpg

Compound Life

Not everyone lives in a village, some of those who pursued their education and working career often may have been moved with their families to major cities. In Port Moresby, expats and some locals live in heavily guarded compounds. Other locals live in other banded areas in basic houses with no electricity and sometimes even without tap water and no bathrooms.

PNG village playground and houses

Village Life

PNG compound behind fences.jpg

Compound Life

As I walked in the compound where I was staying, indigenous children and teenagers came out and happily talked to me. Our conversations were about their lives, languages, wishes and needs. The compound was mainly housing and industrial buildings, no park for them to play, no place to have fun. They all come initially from villages that they visit again with their families during school holidays… but in the meantime they stay in the compound, in the small house with a very limited outdoor space like everybody else behind pointy fences and barbed wires.

When I asked two teenage girls what they did at home, they answered proudly thinking it was the right answer: “We are watching TV”. – “How sad”, did I reply – “Do you filter the information?”
Tribal people watching TV or other media take everything for real. What is shown on TV is too often bad news, violence, corruption and other money oriented topics: the marketing that makes us think about what we ‘need’ to keep up with the Jones. Seldom it gives good news, education or inspiring ideas unfortunately. What are we all showing to our children? Where is this world going?

PNG you prepare my world for tomorrow

You prepare my World… What is your Legacy?

They came from paradisaical villages that Westerners today visit while on an expensive cruise liner; they move into a concrete compound in a house shared by too many people, small windows and hardly any soil to plant a papaya tree. They are ‘de-rooted’ and plonked in a city with many other PNG ethnicities which raises the tension levels… Just for the sake of a job, for money. There is hardly any money in their villages!

What do I like about PNG, will you ask me?
Most of the people smile and greet you kindly. Many of them love when you stop and pay attention to their lives and their families.
Do you fear attracting violence? Then so you will. It is the Law of Attraction: you attract what you fear.
Do you feel comfortable and positive to walk and live there? Then you will be happy and see the good things that this country has to offer. That’s what I did.

Feng Shui tips for those living in a small over-crowded concrete house with little or no garden:

1) cut some beautiful photos of landscapes and blue tag them on your walls. Looking at large open space will enlarge your view on life

2) find a place inside or outside your home where you can sit a few moments per day on your own, prepare a little altar or mini garden so you welcome some inner peace

Roseline and precious PNG friends

Wherever people live, they can arrange their surroundings to make them feel happy. They don’t need much material possessions: only a few pictures can do the trick!

Can I camera you?

Aboriginal Australian’s cultural traditions avoid using names, photos, video clips, films relating to deceased people. Before a video is shown, there is a warning mention that people from one or the other country /language group/mob may be affected as the film may contain references to deceased persons.

With youth today, from my humble 6 months experience living in some remote communities of the Centre of Australia, photos, films and cameras can be fascinating.

Not only it is a mean of sharing their voice through songs, video clips and movies, it is also a way to be part of the life of those who own a camera and also those that live outside their community. Watch here the awards winning video clip song by one of my favourite groups the Desert Sevenz

Most adults spoke 3 or 4 aboriginal languages before learning English. Families there still interact in their local languages. English is used at school and for administrative purposes (shire, clinic, government agencies, land council meetings, etc). Children attend school in English and for the lucky ones in only too few communities, they benefit from a bi-lingual teaching environment.

can i camera you 3In the evening, rather than staying in my accommodation, I spent time at the local popular basketball court. Children and young adults gather there, play sport and have a yarn. I carried my android mobile phone of which they wanted to see the photos that I had taken. That way, they learned about my life, my family, where I come from, where I live, who I am. It is a good way of starting a friendship, pictures replace a thousand word.

They then all wanted to be ‘in my phone’, part of my circle of friends, in my mind, in my heart maybe, who knows – and many photos were taken together smiling and giggling. They had fun using my camera.

can I camera youTheir local sentence wasn’t the usual ‘Can I take a picture of you?’ – they questioned me with a beautiful genuine smile saying: “Can I camera you?” – logic after all isn’t it!

Today, each time I am ready to take a photo of someone, I now use ‘my’ new sentence: “Can I camera you?” .

I use their way, their words. It reminds me of all those beautiful children I met there. Their smiles will stay in my memory forever. I miss their spontaneity, I miss their purity, I miss them.

Words we use in our daily lives are important, choose them carefully 🙂

Excess Toys – New type of Child abuse?

cause of difficult teenagers, child abuse, feng shui and children, future depressed teens, play rooms, too many toys = child abuse, toys for children

Our material possessions could turn into a serious burden!
A little illustration how it could potentially well all start.
Would you see this as a new type of child abuse?

excess of toys = child abuseHow can children find joy playing in this kind of room?
An excess of toys is overwhelming and could well lead to stress, anxiety and lack of confidence from a very early age onwards. Many toys  illustrated here are well above little children’s height. To give you an idea on what children perceive, bend your knees and look at what they can actually see from their height.

too many toys = lost childrenImagine little 3 and 5 year old entering this room, all those toys are higher than them! How can they find their way in this labyrinth of clutter? Too much choice!

Are they spoiled? I don’t think so… What are your views?

Children rather enjoy an “experience” = “quality time” such as… a joy ride on a merry-go-round, a special time at the movies, doing some sport together, etc.
Your time with them is very precious.

A clear and harmonious decor will encourage a clear mind – especially around children’s bedroom and playroom a well sorted environment is essential for good studies and their future life focus.

Please help them by being a good example yourself.
Feng Shui starts with de-cluttering and common sense! Thank you.

Blue Bike – Pink Bike

16 Sunday Dec 2012

balanced life, be the change you want to see in the world, feel good, parents show example

I’m sure you’ll get this one…
The blue Bicycle has square wheels that are hardly leading you anywhere = the Guilt & the Blame.
The pink unicycle is hands FREE and with a good balance, you go everywhere you want!

Ego vs SoulStep 1—Stop the Guilt & Blame Game (= the blue bicycle)
Listen to the words you use on a daily basis.
Change and adapt the wording of your sentences according to your personal truth.
For example—Don’t say : “Oh, I am so stupid, I forgot again”
Say instead: “I am getting better at remembering” AND smile – the humour will uplift the stress that you would have put on the initial blame.
Change “I can’t afford” into “I choose to spend my money differently”

Step 2—Be in Gratitude (= the pink unicycle)
As often as possible be happy with what is happening in your life. How can you do this? It is simple… You know very well that ‘control’ leads to stress, expectations, disappointments. Instead, make a few steps in the life direction you are ready to take, then observe and be in gratitude, see how smoothly all situations evolve.

It does not matter if you are good enough or if it is someone else’s fault… what matter is WHAT IS, the way you deal with it is more important.

In Feng Shui, music instruments are known as ‘cure’ to enhance Chi. They bring harmony… I am going to add you a couple of important points here though… and say: as long as they are in working order and you use them regularly!

Play MusicCreate a sacred place for music: gather all your instruments in one area of your home and play.

Music is Joy…
Music carries your happy vibes in many different realms!
