Roseline Deleu (Feng Shui Steps.com.au) interviews Leona de Ridder (Design by Leona.com)

Leona de Ridder – Landscape Architect New Zealand and Australia – studied with Feng Shui Master Roseline Deleu

    1. Please Leona, tell our readers briefly WHEN, HOW, WHERE or in WHICH circumstances we met?
I met Roseline in Canberra, Australia, 1998, where Roseline was teaching a night class in Feng Shui.  I remember thinking, this is a fascinating woman of the world who has many stories to tell, and I am still enjoying hearing the stories of Roseline’s life of adventure!

    2. Since then, could you share what is the most interesting Feng Shui result that you have experienced?
I have seen life changing situations evolve, reactions that have affected health and wellbeing in a positive way. And a privileged experience being part of life in a terminal phase of illness, we created a peaceful place to rest and pass.

    3. Let’s talk more about you now Leona… Tell us a little about yourself and your business.
I can say studying Feng Shui with Roseline cemented my decision to attend University in 2000, to study a Bachelor Landscape Architecture. It soon became obvious the broader Landscape Planning discipline was a serious consideration, so returned back into the fold of University to study Masters Landscape Architecture (Landscape Planning) in 2004.

A short stint practicing in Australia 2007-2009 gave me a broader understanding of landscape scale and another approach to landscape assessment.

My current practice, Design by Leona, was born in the last decade, along with two children. I needed a family friendly practice, so returned to residential design and volunteer work with community groups.

In more recent times, I’ve delved back into the world of landscape planning, focusing on Integrated Farm Plans and indigenous cultural decision making process.

This is where Roseline and I have reconnected once again, always evolving.  I have observed Roseline integrating what she has learned during her extensive work with Aboriginal people in 24 remote communities around Australia. Roseline has shared with me how she evolved to respect culture and a more connected practice integrating Oneness, Language Ancestors, Land and Nature Elements within our landscape and homes.

To me, Feng Shui is really creating harmony in our landscape and buildings; after all, the first impression you give to your visitors is the harmony of your garden, your landscape, your front entrance and only then your interior. Practising Feng Shui regularly has helped me strengthen my connection with the Land and clearly understand that we belong to nature.

    4. What are the five words that people would use to describe you?
    1. thoughtful

    2. caring

    3. interested

    4. a wee bit controlling

    5. fun

    5. What was the purpose for starting your business?
To find my purpose in life really, and that is healing of the land and the people.  To leave something in a better state than before (preferably).

    6. What are the most common reasons people contact you?
Some are wanting elegance in their life, some are wanting to find more peace, some are just bored and want a change, it is all so varied. Usually it is a form of crisis or trauma that instigates change, and wanting to seek help towards change.

    7. Tell us more about your services that you provide to your clients?
Mostly my service is centred around landscape design at both the residential scale and the broader scale. Some clients don’t want to hear about Feng Shui principles, this is ok and I respect this. I can still incorporate Feng Shui principles into the design without the client necessarily knowing about it, or feeling the need to listen to the explanation, but they can feel it when the end product is built.  Others that come into the space can feel it too.

    8. Tell us about your process for working with clients?
The initial meeting is so important, this when the essence of the vision or the desire is shared by the client. As the design process unfolds into budget discussions, it is important to hold onto that first conversation, to hold onto what is important, to retain the integrity.

    9. What advice can you offer to people who are just discovering “Design by Leona”?
There is no time like the present to make change, life is too short to procrastinate, to hold onto fears and old patterns.  Let’s create those changes together in a safe and supportive way.

    10. Do you have a book/s that you would like to recommend?
“The Gardeners Garden” by Cox and Musgrave

The study spans seven centuries to spotlight more than 250 of the globe’s finest permanent gardens by leading garden designers, horticulturalists, and landscape architects, brought to life via more than 1,000 sumptuous photographs and in descriptive texts by leading garden writers.

“Your first easy steps to Feng Shui” by Roseline Deleu

Simple, easy to understand for all, this little red book has gone everywhere with me.

Suzie was Here! Intuitive Psychic. Multi medium artist. Angelic Reiki.
Roseline Deleu (Feng Shui Steps.com.au) interviews Suzie

    1. Please Suzie, tell our readers briefly WHEN, HOW, WHERE or in WHICH circumstances we met?
I met Roseline through Josè Toussaint’s, Sunday morning toolbox sessions. Roseline was running the session on Fung Shui, the Australian way.

    2. Since then, could you share what is the most interesting Feng Shui result that you have experienced?
Probably not grippingly interesting, but I loved finding a toy gold lion and an Indian 2.00 dollar coin on the beach in different spots on different days after clearing the abundance corner in my room.
I am loving the way we are learning together in the group, experimenting with different way to use feng shui principles.

    3. Let’s talk more about you now Suzie… Tell us a little about yourself and your business.
I am a very eclectic person have dabbled in a million things. Maybe I get bored, or it could be I am more like a hummingbird and like to try lots of different things. This is reflected in my business and working world. I studied fine art and design in gold and silver smithing and fashion, neither of these things do I actually do for a living now. Although my bloomers I make and wear are a wanted item. I do paint, draw and do ceramic art, I am more attracted to practical items.
I have also studied Reiki and am currently completing my Angel Reiki course.
I am a intuitive psychic, my main connection is through holding onto a person’s object to connect to their higher self, Psychometry.

    4. What are the five words that people would use to describe you Suzie?
    1. Loud  – 2. Silly  -3. Kind – 4. Creative – 5. Different

    5. What was the purpose on starting your business?
    I needed to do something.
I had always supported other people in growing their dreams. To scared to step out for myself. It was time to step up to the plate. In the past I have given my employers all of me often leaving myself with naught. I recognised that a long term pattern needed to change.

    6. What are the most common reasons of people who come and see/call you?
Most people contact me when they are looking for : Clarity, Direction, Change, Confirmation, Potential options. Personal growth and empowerment.

    7. Tell us more about your services/products that you provide to your clients?
Psychic readings and Angelic Reiki (even remotely)

    8. Tell us about your process for working with clients ?
With my readings, I will usually ask first energetically if the person is ready to hear what will come through. I ask their higher self for permission, if the answer is yes I ask for an object to hold to use as my connection. If the answer is no I talk more with the client to find out what they are hoping for.
If we meet on line or through email. I don’t hold on to something instead I will pull a card on their behalf and listen for what comes through.
The first thing I usually get when I read for them will be a song.

    9. What advice can you offer to people who are just discovering “Suzie Was Here”?
Make contact either by email and phone and we can chat about what you are needing, wanting or desiring.

    10. Do you have a book/product/service that you would like to recommend?
    Readings and Healing sessions.

    11. Where do we find your services?
It is very difficult to find me right now as I am only developing things.
I am based in Victoria for the moment and I am available on line only.
    My email address is: suziew-10 [@] hotmail.com
    Looking forward to guiding you!

    Threats to Sacred Sites

I recently read this article from Alanna Moore that I met and have known for probably two decades now (doesn’t time fly!). I though I’d share it with you as well as her upcoming workshops dates in Australia (Alanna now lives in Ireland).
Enjoy your reading – Best regards, Roseline DELEU

Threats to Sacred Sites   by Alanna Moore.

Harm has been done to many of Ireland’s sacred monuments. Not just victim to vandals or stone stealers, it often results from archaeological work done on them! Or, in many cases across the land, in a wave of religious fervour around 1950, crosses and concrete statues were erected willy-nilly over on top of ancient sites! Talk about sacrilege!

Not to mention the modern phone masts puncturing the sacred hilltops in more recent times, such as my local one, in the photo. This was taken at the summit of Sheemore, the great fairy mountain of Co. Leitrim, that seems to have been a Bronze Age citadel.

It reminds me of a conversation with a Korean student recently. She described how, when the Japanese invaded Korea they went around and systematically punctured the ground at the sacred sites with big Earth acupuncture stakes, that were left in the ground to destroy the atmosphere, poison the feng shui. A sort of psycho-spiritual terrorism. That’s similar to the effect of the communication masts in the landscape, they are emasculating the soul of the land, amongst other things. (I’m able to speak of this as someone that has never owned a mobile phone, nor do I ever wish to have one!)

I wrote in my book Divining Earth Spirit about winning a battle in 2004 against a huge phone tower that was going to be put up on top of an iconic, sacred mountain in Victoria, Australia – Mt Franklin. National telco. Telstra was knocked back in court on account of the registered historical heritage of the site, as it is an Aboriginal initiation ground. (When you drive into Mt Franklin’s volcanic crater you will sense why it was considered special.) Several other similar Aussie battles have been won since, because they were able to cite the precedent of our rare win.

So if a nasty communications tower threatens a sacred hill or mountain near you,  which is a lot of places these days, I suggest you find out its heritage status as a possible means of protecting it. Or be pro-active and insist that it gets one, where-ever this may be appropriate, to prevent toxic irradiation of the site in future. The fairies and guardian spirits of these places can’t protect the land alone. Not without our help!

Place Grid on L shaped plan

Many readers have plans more complex than just a simple rectangle. Today, let’s see how you can place the Feng Shui Magic Square (grid) onto a “L” shaped plan following the Black Hat Feng Shui School principles. For the Black Hat school, your front door corresponds to the Chi Kou (mouth of the Chi) – no matter where you are in the world, your organs will always be placed at the same spot inside your body – hence why for the Black Hat placement the Chi Kou = your entry will always be in one of the 8 – 1 – 6 areas.

How to proceed and place the Ba Gua or Magic Square grid can be found in my E-book “Your First Easy Steps to Feng Shui” an easy to follow book filled with plenty of examples and tips.

    liliane-plan-with-grid

This unit has 2 grids, the red one is the first one where Chi reaches. It is the principal grid. Second grid is the orange grid. Thus you have here 2 possibilities to adjust Feng Shui around your home, this is great!

Balconies are not included as they are outside the unit walls. They can be considered like your jacket pocket and can contain lots of interesting goodies 😉 … likewise on our balconies, we can add flowers and keep our entertaining areas clean and neat which all will contribute to activate Chi.

    House # 9

The house numbers ‘3’ and ‘8’ have been posted last week. Today let’s have a look at the number ‘9’. House numbers are believed to influence our lives to a certain extend.

Illustration of this article show a house number  ’27’ which when we add  2+7 = 9. It also resonates with both number 2 and 7 number that will be important to read in my next posts.

Of course there is much more than a simple number to influence your life!

Nine is an auspicious number in Feng Shui and symbolizes completion, recognition, acknowledgement, fame and emotional well-being.

Living in an ‘9’ house, to a several digits number adding to ‘9’ or a house number containing ‘9’ in the digits, has a positive influence on its inhabitants.

Buying or living in a ‘9’ house could well be the place where you reach your full potential, get that promotion, start and finish all the projects that you always dreamed of. All this and more can happen as long as your sector ‘9’ in your garden and inside your home – of course – carry the energies of the Fire element!

Emotional health is so important in our lives, living with a positive and constructive attitude can lead you to wonderful life experiences.  🙂

Living in a ‘9’ house will help all inhabitants review where they are in their lives today and re-evaluate on a regular basis. They then grow towards a emotionally balanced and strong being and a happy family.

    house-9

I really like this entrance from a Feng Shui point of view, lots of positive points:

    • Path leading to the house is equal width than the entry door
    • Rectangular stones are strong and wide (rather than having chosen the tiny square ones)
    • River pebbles (Metal element) give the idea of a ‘river’ so the flow going to the house
    • Beautiful, neat and clean door smiles and welcomes you

    What would I suggest?

    • I’d probably change the two wooden poles holding the mailbox. One taller than the other may give the idea that one person in the couple may feel not equal to the other. The two pieces also lean on each other.
    • I’d add a circular ornament in the middle of the 4 windows on the left wall. For example, I ‘d see an empty circle made of moss, the green colour will uplift this white wall and balance with the round pot with green plant on the right hand side of the entry door. If you don’t like the moss idea, any other circular feature on that wall would be good.

This beautiful recently built home was designed by Australia based Architect CAROLINA REYES incorporating Feng Shui principles📞0425741606 www.carolina-reyes.com

May the Feng Shui posts of this blog help you with your Feng Shui experiences.

    Political World Map Poster

“One day, that’s for sure!” she told me smiling while promising again to come one day to Australia… “Yes, Roseline, I’ll come and see you.”

I have been living close to 20 years Down Under and so many people still repeat me the same old promise quickly adding : “Yes, but… Australia is so far away.”

I always smile when I hear them saying “Yes, but…” because the “but” immediately cancels the “yes” and… their sentence actually means “no, I’m scared” – or – “no, I can’t afford” – or… any other excuse   🙂

I simply reply: “Of course, it’s far away, but I travel a lot, it’s because airlines and good planes exist! I believe that the Universe has lots of possibilities in stock for each of us – this applies to you too!”   😀

When you find excuses, it is because, deep inside yourself, you don’t really want it enough. Whether it is to fly to Australia or any other wish!

Life is too short and I enjoy it as much as I can  🙂

How can Feng Shui help you manifesting your wishes when you are ready?
    a) For your travels, display a map of the world and/or photos of your dream destinations in your sector ‘6’.

Roseline Deleu Ulurub) To enroll in a Feng Shui course with me in Australia or in your country, display my photo in your sector ‘8’ and of course contact me for your brochure and enrollment form too.

Beware, results can appear very fast, so you better be ready!

    See you soon   🙂

buddha head wrong placement closeupI recently saw a wrong placement of a Buddha head in a front yard and took a photo to explain this to you.

As you see, the Buddha is not in full body, people choose to place only a head.

Before I explain anything, I’d like to ask yourself “How do I feel seeing a head on its own like that in a bare garden?”

    buddha head wrong placement

Moreover, the head is turning its back towards the street, while we would rather prefer that a Buddha welcomes us at home. Turning a back to the street or to an entry means that you can’t see who is coming – you can’t see the dangers either.

From a respect point of view, I would always encourage you to display a Buddha in full body with a full wall behind his back and preferably on a certain height on top of an altar (not on the floor).

For those of you who have a Buddha’s head, place it on the height where a head would normally be.

    The Red Mat strikes again!

When I wrote my RED MAT post a few days ago, I knew that other rewards were about to appear…

Only to say that this morning, when I attended my appointment with a new health practitioner, the red mat stroke again!

Here I was lying on her table, we exchanged a few words till we realised that I was a long time ago her son’s first preschool teacher! Indeed, before living my Feng Shui life full time, a preschooler teacher I was, when I initially migrated to Australia. I couldn’t believe how much she was happy to see me, said the kids were sad when I left school, how parents missed me and how fond memories her son had of his first year with me.
    I was gobsmacked.
For a 3 year old then… to still remember me and my name today!

When I booked my next appointment for Thursday, she looked at me closely again – now I have long hair, at that time my hair was very short – and said: “Yes, it is really you Roseline, but today you look 10 years younger than then.”

Back home, I looked in my old photos and compared my looks. Today I have a few grey hair, more wrinkles, a few more kilos but indeed, my whole persona looks younger because my attitude towards life has changed.
We never know how little or how much we bring happiness into people’s lives.

    How about your red mat?

Please share your stories, they always encourage others to make their Feng Shui steps.

    I Feng Shui’d my home… Feedback 6 Months Later

A few days ago I posted the initial feedback from Virginia Wells now, 6 months later, this is what she writes…

FEEDBACK 6 months later, Written by Virginia Wells
    WellSorted – Professional Organiser

This was the first time I’d really had a good look at what Feng Shui had to offer outside of some basic training and reading. I was surprised to hear about how deep it goes and how it infiltrates each area of your life, not just your home, but we won’t go into that here. I’ll leave that for the Feng Shui experts.

Virginia Wells MirrorI did find the experience refreshing to my home. As an avid organiser and declutterer, I felt that I’d done all I could in my home. This different approach and speciality, helped me see my home with fresh eyes and release a few things that no longer served me. The initial changes my husband and I made in the first few days were freeing, and made my heart lighter. What about 6 months down the track?

I thought it would be worthwhile reflecting and sharing the changes I’ve noted since my initial post. My first impressions are still accurate, but what else has changed, now that time has passed?

The Difficult Decisions – Culling the Collection
One area I needed to work on was decluttering my hanging crystals and stones that I had on display around the house. Most of these were in my living room, my ‘career’ sector. Roseline mentioned that I had too many crystals out.

Virginia crystalsYou can see in this picture that I had a lot out and I also had many hanging in windows or doorways. I’d collected stones since I was about 5 years old.
The idea to break up my collection was never EVER considered in the past!
I looked at them and told myself that I should give it a go. Surely there were some there that I didn’t like anymore. Maybe there were some I could put away in ‘rotation’ so I had less to dust each month too. So I got stuck into it. It was tough.

What has happened since then? Business has been consistent in the client booking department and my general inner feeling of ‘there’s always so much going on’ has dropped. Life just seems clearer.

    Removing Forgotten Objects and Guilt
I also took down pictures and removed knick-knacks that gave negative vibes, feelings or memories. This was also interesting and somewhat difficult. The thing I observed most here is that I’d come to a point where I ignored the stuff I really disliked and forgot that they were there (coping mechanism perhaps?)

Virginia Wells CupLetting go of other things felt a little uncomfortable as I worried what others would say if they found out I parted with the things they’d given me. The guilt. Once we’d undergone the task however, it left me with a sense of comfort in the home. Also, a subtle move of one particular statue has led to relationship improvements with the person who gave it to me.

    Opening Spaces
Our entryway to our house was hidden with bushy trees that covered the front of our home. We had a group of empty pots and a few statues about the place that were on their last legs. Attention to this area was definitely lacking, so the tree trimming and entry way cleaning has led to a general feeling of openness and comfort when coming home.

Similar things were experienced when we took on the advice to change our living room around. It seemed a bit unwelcoming with our couch blocking easy access into the house. The focus was on the TV, and as mentioned it was overrun by crystals. So moving the furniture around created space which was really refreshing. It has also lead to more visitors, socialising and relaxing. No complaints there.

Coincidence? Who Cares? Embrace the Positive Effects.
Thus far we’ve made subtle improvements to our home as we haven’t been able to afford some of the bigger suggestions. I do wonder how much things would have changed if we’d been able to do some of the bigger changes.

Some may say the changes I’ve noted are just a coincidence. Others will believe. I guess there’s no real way of knowing. All I can say with certainty is that

    • I’m happier with the way our home looks
    • I’m more comfortable in my own home
    • I’ve removed negative energy from our space which makes the space (and me) feel more comfortable and relaxed

Best of all we have future plans that will improve the energy flow, feel and positivity in our home. This is the sort of thing I like to focus on and coach my clients on to get their home or office organised and decluttered. I love that Feng Shui and Organising has a synergy with space, the way we use it, and what we choose to have in it. I like that Feng Shui isn’t afraid to have you look at how this stuff is affecting your physical Virginia Wenergy, your relationships, your career and health. I like to do this in my work, sometimes in a more subtle way. None of us are immune to ‘stuff’ and its effects on us. It helped me remember that we all have a choice with each and every item we own. Review them all.

What are you doing to create positive influence in your space?

Cherry Picking Experience – or – How to ignore Signs!

My code with the Universe works in 3 signs. They come together rapidly and either “opens doors” to opportunities or “keeps them locked”.

Oooops… I hadn’t listened to the signs with our last adventure!

The son of a dear Belgian childhood friend is backpacking around Australia for the moment. After a month of discovering Sydney and Cairns, I invited him to join us in Canberra to visit the Capital Territory. He is a gentle young man with plenty of qualities. We are having a really good time together.

After a week or so, he decided to look for fruit picking work and answered an ad in Young. It’s cherry season for the moment, farmers are keen to welcome cheap labourers. Backpackers are happy to get some work and fill their pocket with a few dollars.

Intuitively, I decided we were going to drop him off and spend a week fruit picking with him as it was only a couple of hours drive and that would give him a start. We needed some camping gear. Monday morning, we arrived too early at the shopping centre that only opened at 10 AM (sign #1) we then decided to head for our favourite bakery in Kingston, the famous Silo – it was Monday and we had forgotten that was closed (sign #2), by then it was about 10 AM and we returned to the shopping Centre to realise that Ray Outdoors had moved to Majura Park a new precinct (sign #3).

Finally equipped with a new tent, blow up mattresses and sleeping bags, we headed for Young after enrolling on line to an ad that was paying $20 per hour and 20% above award wages. I thought it was fairly well paid and suspected some twisted wording from the farmer as he only wanted us to fill in our contact details on page one and leave the hourly rate blank that was mentioned on page two that he hadn’t signed!

We set up camp and heard plenty of French speaking pickers calculating the few dollars they made over the last few days. Lucky the camping spot was cheap $25 per week but it was very basic and some toilets were blocked.

Feng Shui landscapeWe placed the tent facing a little dam and a Aussie windmill. Good Feng Shui I thought, that’s going to help us with this experience. The tent professionally fixed was protecting us from upcoming lightning in the distance. The wind was blowing hard and our sleeping bags were not ‘winter’ friendly. We slept lightly and were at the induction meeting at 6 AM with two lovely Kiwi retirees who are traveling around Australia. They too had answered the same ad.

The induction told us a total different story, the pay was per lug, a 15 kilos crate that the average picker (from what they said) could fill in 30 minutes. Here was the “$ 20/hour”. We were only allowed to work from 6 AM till 2 PM with two 10 min breaks and half hour compulsory for lunch. At the end of our first day, each new member of this newly started team had managed to fill 3 or 4 crates each. Our income was varying between $33 and $44 for the day. We shared our understanding of the conversation with the farmer and the kiwi couple confirmed that they too were told some people could make up to $200 per day.

We gave a phone call to the farmer who had sub-contracted us to another farm and he confirmed that he would pay the award wages of $11.20 per lug not an hourly rate even though an hourly rate was the only mention on the contract. The ad had definitely something twisted. We thought, many backpackers would stay as it cost them already so much to get to Young.

tent snappedAs we walked towards our tent we saw that one of the middle pole had snapped and had pierced the roof – impossible to sleep in that tent again if the rain comes again.

We all looked at each other, laughed, packed the car and left. We decided fast – that’s part of the Feng Shui placement, you get a strong push!

tent 1We are so grateful to the universe to have sent us a 4th sign – it couldn’t be more obvious! It was telling us ‘get out of here’.

You might think we were very naive – we probably allowed us to be.

You might think we were angry – we were not as we looked at this as an experience, a learning curve that we could have chosen to stay or go. We decided to go as we believe that there is something else better coming for our backpacker friend.

We had a fruit picking experience. We are now more aware how much hard work it is for fruit pickers… and a strong reminder to listen to signs of the Universe!

As per today, we haven’t been paid our small wages yet. Will we ever be?

Life is filled with choices. The universe talks to us, he sent us 3 signs before we went… and we ignored them. We had good fun together though and that’s the most important point to remember!

Maybe this story will push some of your triggers. Are you feeling stuck? Are you ready to blame someone for it? This is of no use. In most situations, it is your choice to stay in that situation or move on.

Make a step and respect yourself.

    Feng Shui yours,

    Roseline Deleu
